2015 Azimut 70

Sydney, New South Wales

$1,620,184

Italian Stallion

There’s no doubt the Italians know how to do style and this Azimut 70 is the pinnacle of this expression. From her striking colour scheme to her sweeping sporty lines this Italian thoroughbred is certainly a statement piece and the envy of the traditional white boat owner. Sporting a metallic dark hull, stylishly formed and mirror finish glass, a gloss black hardtop and enough horses to get this stallion galloping to 30 knots, the Azimut 70 is strictly not for the faint-hearted.

The Function of Style

As an Architect embraces everyday life as raw material to form a masterpiece that serves its desired function, this yacht delivers the aesthetics and design elements of an Italian sportscar while simultaneously giving her owners an extremely functional layout perfectly suited to Australian conditions. The free-flowing deck level and galley, accommodation configuration, multiple dining options and machinery suite seamlessly combine into the perfect family yacht, all without compromising her style.

A family affair

If the idea of family holidays in the Whitsundays for winter or long weekends in Jervis Bay in pure comfort and luxury sounds like your cup of tea, this Azimut 70 is a Tetley tea factory. Accommodating 8 guests in 4 separate staterooms all with their own bathrooms (plus crew quarters and head) this stunning yacht is a real proposition as a family getaway option.

Living the life

This yacht dominates her class with her generous and well-proportioned layout designed for extended cruises or entertaining alike. The cockpit space is open and airy with a large aft lounge anchored by a substantial teak table delivering outdoor dining like no other. The sliding stacker doors gracefully integrates the cockpit to the saloon where you’re met with a lavish lounge area. The oak timber trims blended with the contemporary textured finishes showcase the sophisticated design you would expect from this Italian builder. The colossal windows in this space are low cut with the exterior bulwark cut out allowing for even longer water views and draws in an incredible amount of natural light reminding you you’re on the water, not in a luxury hotel as you would be forgiven for thinking.

Chefs Delight

The comprehensive galley is forward to starboard and raised slightly to meet the 8-person dining table to port. This elevated position allows for inclusivity with the dining area and saloon while simultaneously separating the space so that food prep and mess don’t impact your relaxing guests. The domestic proportioned galley is overloaded with innovative storage solutions and appliances, including a full-size fridge integrated behind the oak finish timberwork found throughout the yacht.

Rooftop Rumpus

The flybridge is easily accessed by a teak stairway to the port of the cockpit and really has to be experienced to be able to fathom the volume. The phenomenal amount of well-appointed real estate up here really adds another dimension to this 70ft weapon. With a large dining table and lounge area to starboard it easily seats 8 adults for a meal or relaxing while underway. The wet bar to starboard houses an ice maker, fridge, sink and electric grill, highlighting the function of this penthouse space. Forward, the mammoth full beam sunbed is perfect for some R&R and actually extends in front of the upper helm to starboard. From the helm, the skipper’s visibility allows them to command vessel comfort and ease while still being part of the action. All of this under a retractable, gloss-black, framed sunroof that offers the flexibility to use this space in varying conditions. A neat feature of the Azmut 70 flybridge is that aft of the lounge the deck extends to the bull beam creating an incredible amount of deck space, perfect for some sun loungers, inflatable spa or a davit should you wish to put the Williams Jet Tender up here instead of on the hydraulic platform aft.

Rest Easy

The accommodation configuration consists of two identical twin rooms to port and starboard with the starboard cabin having a bathroom aft and the port having a bathroom forward that also doubles as a day head. Moving forward the VIP guest suite is grand and generous boasting a queen island bed, generous wardrobe and storage space, large windows with water visas and a private ensuite aft to starboard. Moving aft to midships the palatial full-beam master suite is the perfect owner’s retreat to unwind and relax. The king-size bed centre anchors the suite and is complemented by a settee/office to starboard and vanity to port. The immense windows both port and starboard give the owners a water-level perspective of your favourite anchorage and floods the master suite with natural light and water views. The master bathroom to starboard aft is appointed with a his and hers vanity, head and separate steam shower and then to port aft is the walk-in robe fit for a queen.

Ticks all the boxes

A yacht of this calibre goes from great to sheer perfection when an owner ticks all the option boxes and this Azimut 70 is just that. With so many to list, it’s best to show you in person but a few of the standouts include twin V12 MAN diesel shaft drive engines delivering 1360hp EACH! This propels the boat along at up to 30 knots and an economical cruise of 24 knots. It makes for short work of the East Coast but also means Sydney Harbour to Broken Bay for eaxmple is only a 45-minute trip at cruise speed.

To add to the comfort while underway or, more importantly, while at anchor, she’s fitted with not one but two Sea Keeper gyro stabilisers. You might feel bad at first watching guests on neighbouring boats frantically grab their drinks after a ferry passes by, but I assure you this feeling won’t last as your Gyros keep your yacht on an even keel.

The onboard 240v power is delivered by two 20kva generators. This delivers not only the ability to crank every 240v item onboard simultaneously should you wish, but it also allows for the wear and tear and engine hours to be shared across two units. It also means that if you’re relaxing at anchor off a secluded Whitsundays Island and a generator plays up, it doesn’t mean trip over. Fire up the other one, enjoy your holiday and sort it when back in port.

Manoeuvring this Italian masterpiece is a breeze thanks to the twin engines and bow and stern thrusters. Throw in Xenta joystick controls and a Yacht Controller remote and you, or your skipper, can operate the vessel single-handed, even coming in and out of the berth.

Of course there’s a water maker, 5g internet, smart TVs, 2 water pumps, hydraulic swim platform, Williams jet tender, deck winches, chain counter, radar, 4 x Raymarine Screens, autopilot, crew quarters and literally a boat load of other options.

What we say

Having had the pleasure of spending 2 weeks onboard this Italian Stallion taking her up to the Sanctuary Cove Boat Show and back to Sydney, I can tell you hand on heart, that there is much more to this Azimut than meets the eye. And with these looks, that’s saying something. The constant feedback from the Show was “wow this is brand new” and “this is the best value boat at the show”. The low hours really have impacted the presentation of this stunning interior and having encountered some pretty nasty conditions offshore, I was extremely impressed with her sea-keeping abilities and performance. She has style, pace, grace and function yet also represents great value when stacked up against anything else on the Australian market. I’m excited to show you onboard.
